“The best thing about working with children is the fact that, after 25 years in education, they still surprise me.”

“They do that through comments, through behavior, or because they interpret things differently than I had previously thought,” says Patricia. “It reflects on myself and on my teaching to the children.”

About collaborating

“I think it's important that children learn to work together.”

“They will often need this skill in the rest of their lives,” she explains. “It's nice that children at Twickel learn this in a safe and familiar environment, where they are allowed to trial and error.”

Working as a team

“It's great to work within the Twickel team because everyone is there for each other.”

“I can always go to my colleagues to have a chat or ask a question,” says Patricia. “There is a lot of knowledge in-house. Sometimes we disagree, that's okay. We respect each other in that.”

Finally, she emphasizes the human side of working together:

“We also pay attention to each other as people. Who are we and what do we experience? Often a laugh and sometimes a tear.”
