Those who are good at reading lay a firm foundation for all other learning. That is why at Twickel, we fully focus on reading skills and reading pleasure. Reading enriches your vocabulary, sharpens your thinking, and strengthens your ability to understand what you're reading. It is an indispensable building block in every child's development.
School library
The same applies to reading: the more you practice, the stronger you become. Children who enjoy reading will naturally continue to build on their language development. That is why Twickel collaborates with the Haarlemmermeer Library through the School Library program. This is how we ensure that reading is a daily building block. At school and at home.
What does the school library offer?
We are an effective primary school where every child can develop optimally, through the widest possible range, appropriate to the child's individuality.
Expertise
We are building a reading culture with the help of a regular reading consultant from the library. The team also continues to grow: through training and refresher courses in the areas of reading promotion, book selection and children's literature. This way, our approach remains up to date and inspiring.
Reading pleasure in the classroom
Good reading experiences are solid building blocks for motivation and language skills. In all groups, we organize activities around beautiful stories, surprising books and exciting themes, so that reading remains something to look forward to — every day.
Current collection
With a well-stocked library, we build curiosity. Children can choose from a current, diverse collection of books that suit their age, interest and level. Books can also be taken home, so that reading pleasure continues outside the school walls. So reading really becomes part of their world.

At Twickel, reading is not a profession, but a daily building moment. From groups 1 to 8, we work on technology, understanding and fun with structural attention and a wide range of products for every student.
- Read aloud by the teacher every day and read independently in a book of your choice
- Reading corners and varied book offerings in each classroom
- Two school libraries:
- for groups 1-2 (picture books, you can take home)
- for groups 3-8 (wide range of levels and interest) - TUTORIAL & BUILD! : upper school helps students learn to read
