About herself
“The best thing about my job? Working with kids, day after day.”
Mandy has been living in Hoofddorp for a few years and deliberately chose Twickel as a primary school for her own children. When a vacancy became available, she didn't have to think long: “I applied and was hired.”
Working with children every day gives her energy.
“It's great to give children something to empower them at school and beyond.”
She likes to guide them in a world that requires a lot of them.
“Seeing them become globally wise, learning to think critically, getting to know themselves better and making the switch to secondary education with more confidence is so valuable.”
About the kids
“Stay close to yourself. Know what you can do, what you need, and dare to ask for help.”
Mandy wants to teach children that self-knowledge and individuality are important. You don't have to do it alone. Together, you are stronger.
What affects her during a school day?
“When a child is proud because they have learned something that didn't work out before. That moment of insight is worth its weight in gold.”
About collaborating
“At Twickel, I got the opportunity to work with an HB group, and I've really grown there now.”
She is proud of how Twickel shapes full-time gifted education: “It shows that there is room for all children in our education.”
How does she experience the collaboration at school?
“I enjoy building, thinking and taking on new challenges together. There is room for that here — with a critical note from time to time.”
And the team spirit?
“We have fun together, support each other in good times as well as in difficult times. As you can see, we know what's going on. You can see that in the hallways of the school.”
